The
Fribourg Lawyers' Association (Ordre des avocats fribourgeois) is
an association subject to private law in terms of art. 60 and subsequent
articles of the Swiss Civil Code (Code civil Suisse). It regroups
to date quasi-all lawyers/attorneys whose main practice is in the
Canton of Fribourg.
It sees to the independence of the Bar, the respect of the rules of
deontology and to the administration of sound justice. This Association
thus sees to the respect of the high principles
guiding the practice of law (discharge of mandate with care and diligence,
principle of independence, respect of the attorney-client confidentiality,
loyal contribution to the implementation of justice and respect of
the dignity of the Bar), which are all in the client's best interest.
For more information, please consult the Statutes of the Order as
well as the Ways and Customs.
The
main bodies of the Ordre are
the General Assembly, which regroups all member lawyers, as well
as the board of Directors (Conseil de l'Ordre) which is the executive
body. The Conseil de l'Ordre has, in particular, important disciplinary
powers (see Statutes).
Thus,
having recourse to a lawyer member of the Ordre des avocats fribourgeois
represents an increased reliability for the client due to the double
surveillance to which this lawyer is submitted in the discharge
of his profession, that of the Association of which he is a member,
and to that of the competent state agencies.
